I heard about a lavender farm in Harrisonburg and immediately put it on my list to visit. I emailed them earlier in May and they said mid-June would be peak time, so that’s when we went. We had a fun afternoon touring the farm and learning about growing, harvesting and distilling lavender.
It was beautiful there, but I have to be honest, I was expecting more fields of color and it just wasn’t like that. There were lots of areas with lavender plants, but not fields of purple. Also, it didn’t turn out to be peak as they were having a late harvest.
One really great plus is that they also have a winery called Purple Wolf. After strolling around in the heat, a glass of wine was a nice treat.
We loved seeing all of the animals on the farm — they have horses, pigs, alpacas, bunnies, and chickens.
