We just got back from a trip to Puerto Rico, where Erick is from and where we met. We try to go once per year or every two years and it’s hard to truly vacation and also visit family. We stay with Erick’s mom in the city and then travel around from there.
If you’re ever considering a trip there, please let me know as I’d be happy to give you some recommendations on what to do, where to stay, etc.
We had a nice conversation with the Dept. of Family while we were there. It seems that the procedure for adopting is fairly straight-forward, however they couldn’t tell us an idea of how long it might take. Could be upwards of two years and it takes longer for U.S. residents, but the fees are small — just like adopting from social services here. They do have babies, but not as frequently. We’re thinking to try to go ahead and get a home study and get on the list there while we figure out what else we’re going to do or while we keep saving for an agency.
Here’s some photos from our trip:

Rincon is where my husband and I spent our honeymoon, at a small B&B called Blue Boy Inn. We loved it. We ended our trip with a couple of days in Old San Juan. Looking at these photos brought me back. 🙂 It looks like you had such a wonderful time. Something you definitely deserved!
Courtney,
We only stayed one night at Tres Sirenas, but we loved it! I wish we could have stayed longer, but we are trying to save money. Funny that you’ve been there!
Sounds like a lovely trip. So jealous that you guys got away for so long!
My mom and I went to Puerto Rico for a vacation once and I loved it…
Beautiful pictures. I love San Juan. I went there just over a year ago and loved exploring.
