On our first full day in Asheville, we headed up the mountain on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our main destination was Mount Mitchell, but we decided to stop at Craggy Gardens. When we parked and got out of the car, the views were breathtaking. Also, the clouds were whizzing by us. I think it’s the coolest experience to be inside the clouds and see them moving so fast.
One minute, it’s clear and the next, there’s a huge cloud rolling by.
From the visitor’s center parking lot, we headed out on the Craggy Gardens trail. It was like a green tunnel with blooming rhododendrons.
After a ten minute walk, you pop out of the tunnel to grassy fields with plenty more rhodies and beautiful mountain views.
